The family of 16-year-old Suzi Adwoa Penamang, a student at Seventh Day Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, is making a desperate appeal for financial help to prevent their daughter from losing her vision.

The tragic incident occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, when Suzi was accidentally shot in the eye by a stray bullet during a student altercation.

The confrontation, which began over a dispute about the authenticity of a gun, escalated when Bernard Amoabeng, a fellow student, discharged the weapon, hitting Suzi in the eye.

Suzi was initially admitted to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and has since been released. However, her condition remains dire, and she continues to undergo frequent medical assessments. Her family is fearful that without immediate and specialized treatment, she could permanently lose her sight.

The incident has sparked outrage, drawing attention to the alarming issue of violence and weapon presence in schools. Calls for stronger measures and reforms to ensure student safety have intensified.

In a heartfelt plea, Suzi’s mother, Afia Comfort, expressed the emotional strain her daughter’s condition has placed on their family. “All I need from Ghanaians is help to save my daughter’s eye. I beg you, help me with the surgery. I have no support. MPs, President Mahama, please help. My daughter can’t sleep, she can’t eat. Please, help me,” she implored.

The family is now urgently seeking assistance from the public, government officials, and kind-hearted individuals to fund Suzi’s treatment and restore her vision.
