Nana Yaa Jantuah, former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), is calling for an end to the blame placed on John Mahama regarding illegal mining activities in Ghana.

She asserted that it is President Akufo-Addo who should be held accountable for the rampant “galamsey” issues, as the constitution grants him ownership of the nation’s mineral resources.

Nana Yaa Jantuah expressed her astonishment at the continued finger-pointing towards the former President, emphasizing that Article 268 of the Constitution clearly designates the President as the sole custodian of all mineral wealth.

“If things are not being managed properly or are causing harm to our livelihoods, it is Nana Akufo-Addo who must be held responsible,” she said.

She urged the public to refrain from linking Mahama to the current challenges, stating, “It’s time to stop mentioning John Mahama. The authority to oversee our mineral resources rests solely with Nana Akufo-Addo.”
