Haaland Breaks Norway’s All-Time Goalscoring Record

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has etched his name into Norwegian football history by surpassing Jorgen Juve’s long-standing international goalscoring record.

At just 24 years old, Haaland became Norway’s all-time leading scorer during their Nations League victory over Slovenia.

Haaland’s 33rd international goal early in the match equaled Juve’s record, set in the 1920s and ’30s. However, the Norwegian sensation didn’t stop there. In the second half, he further cemented his place in the record books by netting his 34th goal for Norway.

Remarkably, Haaland achieved this feat in only 36 appearances for his country, a significantly faster pace than Juve, who reached the previous record in 27 games.

Interestingly, Juve’s career transitioned from striker to center-back later on, ultimately finishing with 45 caps and no additional goals. Post-retirement, he pursued a career in journalism.

Haaland’s record-breaking goal came after 90 years of standing unbeaten. He capitalized on a rebound, expertly slotting the ball through Jan Oblak’s legs.

Leading Norway in the absence of the injured Martin Odegaard, Haaland’s clinical finish from 16 yards out showcased his exceptional goal-scoring ability.

In addition to his record-breaking achievement, Haaland also announced on social media that his partner, Isabel, is pregnant.

While Haaland’s 34 goals may seem modest compared to the international tallies of players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, and Robbie Keane, it’s still a remarkable accomplishment.

His record surpasses the top scorers of many other nations, including Kenny Dalglish and Denis Law, who share Scotland’s top scorer title with 30 goals each.
