Government to Phase Out Double-Track System by 2027 – Education Minister

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced that the government is working towards ending the Double-Track system in Senior High Schools by 2027.
Speaking at a meeting with the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) in Sunyani, Bono Region, the Minister shared that key reforms are underway. These include revising the national curriculum and restructuring the administration of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to support the transition.
“We are actively revising the curriculum, and we expect proper board approvals for all GETFund-related expenditures,” he emphasized. “By 2027, we anticipate the Double-Track system will be completely phased out.”
Minister Iddrisu reiterated the government’s dedication to improving education and building human capital, highlighting that GETFund will remain instrumental in expanding infrastructure across schools nationwide.
