God Has Chosen Mahama for a Purpose; Ghanaians Expect Unique Leadership – Former Methodist Bishop
With only four years in office, Mahama must leave a legacy beyond political promises
- Rt. Rev. Prof. Sarfo-Kantanka believes Mahama’s victory is God’s plan and must be treated as such
- Mahama has only four years to fulfill his promises and leave a lasting impact
- Ghanaians, especially in traditional strongholds, must embrace reforms for progress beyond politics
Rt. Rev. Prof. Sarfo-Kantanka, former Methodist Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese, has stated that John Mahama’s victory in the upcoming December 7 elections is divinely orchestrated.
He emphasized that Mahama’s anticipated success is not just a political event but a manifestation of God’s plan, occurring at the appointed time.
Speaking on Lawson TV/Radio’s Ghana Se Sen Show with Kwame Tanko, Rt. Rev. Prof. Sarfo-Kantanka urged Ghanaians to pray for President-elect Mahama to recognize the unique leadership expectations placed upon him.
He warned that if Mahama fails to realize the magnitude of this leadership opportunity, Ghanaians will not benefit fully from the outcome.
“Mahama’s overwhelming victory is a clear sign that God works in His own time. This mandate is not the usual leadership we see in politics.”
The former Methodist Bishop reminded John Mahama of the constitutional limitation on his presidency, stressing that he has only one term of four years to leave a lasting legacy.
“He cannot go beyond four years, as per the Constitution. He must, therefore, focus on building a legacy that transcends traditional election victories. If he does not fulfill the promises he has made, his leadership will lose its significance,” he advised.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Sarfo-Kantanka further pointed out that Mahama’s success reflects a divine shift in Ghana’s political landscape.
He noted that, historically, since 1992, every ruling party has had two consecutive terms, after which power changes hands.
“God is opening our eyes to the work He is doing in our country, and I hope Mahama will recognize it. Elections should not be reduced to tradition, especially for regions like Ashanti, where people often vote for one party out of habit. It is time for Ghanaians to carefully analyze the current situation and acknowledge the need for critical reforms. While I may not entirely agree with some prophetic proclamations, I believe God has given us a system of rotation. Since 1992, every ruling party has served for two consecutive terms, followed by a change in government.”
Rt. Rev. Prof. Sarfo-Kantanka called on Mahama to rise above partisan politics, recognize the unique opportunity given to him by God, and deliver the leadership that Ghanaians desperately need.
