NDC's tenure left Ghana's education system in disarray, according to Dr. Adutwum
NPP has made significant improvements, with better WASSCE results
The NPP aims to make Ghana's education system globally competitive
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming their tenure left Ghana’s education system in ruins.
He described the state of education under the NDC as having “bled profusely” and accused the party of not understanding key reforms such as the double track system.
“The NDC lacks understanding of the double track system. They don’t grasp how we implemented it or how we are phasing it out. Moreover, they never address the issue of community schools,” he stated.
Speaking on Lawson TV/Radio ‘Ghana Se Sen’ Morning Show on November 11, 2024, Dr. Adutwum asserted that the NPP Akufo-Addo’s leadership, has made significant strides in the education sector.
He pointed to improvements in WASSCE results, particularly in core subjects like Math, English, Science, and Social Studies, with no Senior High School graduate receiving a grade D since the NPP took office.
Dr. Adutwum highlighted the NPP’s clear plans to continue enhancing education and make it more competitive globally, with ambitions to match the educational standards of countries like South Korea.
“We have strong plans for Ghana’s education. Bawumia’s strategies are excellent, and if Ghanaians grant us another mandate, we will make education more attractive. Our goal is to transform the education sector to compete with nations like South Korea,” he remarked to Kwame Tanko
He urged Ghanaians to trust the NPP with another mandate, assuring them that the party is focused on transforming education for the benefit of all.
“We need change for this country, and I have no doubt that the NPP knows how to structure education to benefit all Ghanaians,” he said.
