Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, a former National Security Advisor, has raised concerns about escalating tensions as Ghana approaches the general elections on December 7.
Nunoo-Mensah believes the intensity of the 2024 campaign is unprecedented compared to previous elections.
Speaking on the ‘Election Home’ program on Lawson TV/Radio, Nunoo-Mensah stated, “It’s more than just election heat; what we’re witnessing is dangerous.”
He warned that if politicians continue their divisive behavior, Ghana could face serious consequences.
“The backbiting is excessive. I warned about this 13 to 14 years ago—if we don’t stop, one day the nation will collapse.”
He stated that every issue in the country has become politicized, using the Bawku conflict as an example of this trend.
He clarified that he bears no ill will toward any presidential candidate, asserting that he is close to all of them.
According to Nunoo-Mensah his focus remains on patriotism and offering genuine criticism, supporting anyone committed to the nation’s welfare.
