Thomas Kusi Boafo, Chief Executive Officer for Public Sector Reforms at the Office of the President, has announced plans for Ghana to purchase a state-of-the-art passport printing machine.

Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio he said the machine is valued at GH₵320 million, and boasts a lifespan of 25 years and will be capable of printing up to 240,000 passport books daily.
He said it would be integrated with the national database system, and will ensure that only verified Ghanaians can access passports.
“Passport issuance will soon become seamless. In about a week, you can get your passport unless there’s an issue with your details. This machine will be a game-changer as Ghana’s population grows. The process will minimize human interaction to reduce fraud and delays,” Kusi Boafo assured.
Citing Rwanda as an inspiration for efficient systems, he noted, “We’ll surpass Rwanda in time. While they excel in discipline, Ghana leads in humanity. The new technology will enhance service delivery and economic growth.”
This development aligns with efforts to modernize public service delivery and improve citizens’ access to essential documents.
