Philip Kwabena Agyemang, better known as Roman Fada, has been officially appointed as the new presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) for the 2024 elections.
His selection comes after the tragic death of the party’s founder and former candidate, Akua Donkor.
Roman Fada, a popular radio and TV personality at Accra’s Atinka FM, confirmed his candidacy in a live interview on November 4.
He explained that his nomination was the result of a comprehensive decision-making process involving extensive consultations within the GFP leadership.
This careful selection was aimed at ensuring a smooth transition and preserving the party’s unity and focus ahead of the upcoming elections in December.
Fada also noted that his close working relationship with Akua Donkor, having served as her running mate in the 2024 race, played a pivotal role in his selection. He expressed his deep respect for Donkor, whose sudden passing has left a significant gap in the party.
“It’s true, and we all know what happened last week when Akua Donkor passed away. May her soul rest in peace. As her running mate, I was closely aligned with the party’s vision, and now the leadership has entrusted me with the role of flagbearer,” Fada shared.
With his new role, Roman Fada is set to carry forward the GFP’s message and objectives into the December polls.
