In a bold move to restore order in Kumasi, Mayor Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi has announced that starting May 1, any stray cattle found wandering the city will be captured, slaughtered, and used as food for inmates at the Kumasi Central Prison.

Speaking at a press conference, the Mayor expressed deep concern over the rising number of cattle roaming freely through major parts of the city, disrupting daily life and tarnishing Kumasi’s image.

He emphasized that such scenes are inappropriate for a city of Kumasi’s stature, especially along key routes like the airport to the Manhyia Palace.

“I won’t allow a situation where visitors arrive in Kumasi only to be greeted by cattle droppings all over our streets,” he stated.

Mayor Boadi warned all herders to keep their livestock away from the city or face serious consequences, reiterating that any animals found will be put down and redirected to serve as meals for prisoners.
