An Accra High Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of 23-year-old Safina Mohammed, also known as Safina Diamond, a University of Ghana student charged with the murder of her boyfriend, Frank Osei, a Ghanaian living in Canada.
Safina, who has pleaded not guilty, was absent from court with her legal team, prompting the judge to issue a bench warrant for her arrest.
“Safina Mohammed, alias Safina Diamond, charged with the murder of Frank Osei, was on bail but failed to appear in court today. Justice Lydia Osei Marfo of the Court of Appeal has now ordered her arrest,” the court noted.
The incident took place on July 24, 2022, when Frank Osei, visiting Ghana, spent the night at Safina’s home in Ashaley Botwe School Junction.
Prosecutors allege that during the night, Safina, along with unapprehended accomplices, fatally stabbed Osei and strangled him.
They further allege that the group cleaned up the crime scene and hid Osei’s body for 24 hours before dragging it outside to the gate, where it was later discovered by police after Safina called them to report his death.
