Akua Donkor, the founder and presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party, has passed away at the age of 72.
She died Monday night at 10 PM while receiving treatment at Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
The cause of her death remains unclear. Born in February 1952 in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region, Akua Donkor was a cocoa farmer with no formal education.
She made strides in her political career by being elected assemblywoman for Herman, aspiring to one day become President of Ghana.
Akua Donkor first made headlines in 2012 when she announced her candidacy as an independent candidate. Her contributions to Ghanaian politics will be remembered.
