Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong has expressed his excitement at returning to Ghana for the Christmas holidays.

The Dutch international, who is of Ghanaian descent, arrived in Accra on Sunday, December 22nd, accompanied by family members. He was greeted with a warm welcome, including traditional Ghanaian music and dance.

In an interview, Frimpong shared his enthusiasm for being back in the land of his parents. “It’s amazing to come to this welcoming atmosphere for the first time,” he said. “This is my people, so I am so happy to be here. I’ve always been connected to my Ghanaian roots. Both my parents are Ghanaian, I eat Ghanaian food, I speak the language. Obviously, being here makes it extra special.”

Frimpong has enjoyed a stellar season with Bayer Leverkusen, contributing two goals and four assists in the Bundesliga, and four assists in six UEFA Champions League games.
