Four suspected robbers, believed to be responsible for a series of attacks on residents and travelers in the Adansi areas of the Ashanti Region,Fo on the Bekwai-Fomena Highway.

The suspects, part of an alleged robbery gang, reportedly set up a roadblock and attacked passengers traveling between the towns of Bekwai and Fomena.

Responding quickly to distress calls, police engaged the robbers in a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Four of the suspects were fatally wounded in the operation, while two others sustained gunshot wounds and managed to escape into the nearby bush. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend these individuals.

Police have stated that investigations are ongoing to fully understand the circumstances of the robbery attempt and to identify the deceased suspects.

Residents in the area, who have been living in fear due to increasing incidents of highway robbery, have praised the police for their prompt response.

The Ashanti South Police Command has confirmed the incident and will provide comprehensive details at a press conference scheduled for today, Monday, April 14th.
