Michael Osei, the former star player for Asante Kotoko and head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, has tragically passed away following a brief illness.

A report reaching lawsonmultimedia.com has confirmed that, Michael Osei, a former star player for Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, has sadly passed away at age 53
According to the report ‘Ember Power’ as Michael Osei was affectionately called died following a short illness.
Michael Osei was born on 15 September 1971 at Asawase, Kumasi. He had a distinguished football career, starting with Anokye Stars and Neoplan Stars in Kumasi before moving to Okwawu United, where he played alongside his cousin, Ghanaian football icon Tony Yeboah.
In 1989, he joined Asante Kotoko, where he won the Ghana Premier League twice, in 1991 and 1992. Osei later had stints with Austrian club Vorwärts Steyr, German teams Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz 05, and Venezuelan giants Caracas FC, where he also played in the prestigious Copa Libertadores.
After his playing days, Osei went on to manage Bibiani Gold Stars.
His legacy in African football, particularly in Ghana, would be remembered fondly by fans and former teammates alike.
