President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has lauded the Flower Pot Interchange as a transformative infrastructure project and a legacy for generations to come.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Interchange in the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday, November 19, he called on Ghanaians to play an active role in preserving the facility for its intended long-term benefits.
“This Interchange is a gift to future generations. I urge the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the National Roads Authority, traditional leaders, commuters, and all Ghanaians to work together to safeguard it and ensure it serves its purpose for many years,” he emphasized.
The President also urged commuters to prioritize safety by adhering to road traffic rules, emphasizing that pedestrian and motorist cooperation is essential to prevent accidents and ensure smooth travel.
The Interchange, which connects Spintex, East Legon, Tema, Cantonments, and Burma Camp, is designed to ease traffic congestion and enhance the quality of life in the area. It includes upgraded pedestrian walkways, streetlights, redesigned road layouts, and additional connectivity features such as a new road through the old tunnel at East Legon.
This infrastructure, Akufo-Addo noted, is a milestone in Ghana’s development journey, reinforcing the importance of sustainable urban planning.
