In a violent confrontation on the evening of November 26, five people, including three immigration officers, were injured after an enraged mob attacked a Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) residence in Ayigya, Oforikrom Municipality, Ashanti Region.
The mob, allegedly led by a neighbor of the officers, stormed the two-story building armed with machetes and other weapons, and attempted to set the property on fire.
Eyewitnesses reported parts of the building were damaged, and valuable items, including mobile phones and cash, were stolen.
The incident is believed to have arisen from a long-running property dispute. Despite multiple court rulings favoring the officers, the neighbor, who claims ownership of the building, allegedly resorted to intimidation and violence to force them out.
Seven individuals, including the prime suspect, have been arrested in connection with the attack.
As tensions remain high and the legal battle continues, the immigration officers involved have declined to comment, while some witnesses shared their accounts anonymously.
