The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is urging all Ghanaians to install fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in their homes to help prevent fire outbreaks.

Speaking on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, the Ashanti Regional Fire Service Commander, ACFOII Teteh, emphasized the importance of not only purchasing fire extinguishers but also learning how to use them effectively.

He noted that fire safety education is making an impact, but there are still challenges. Out of the 43 districts in the Ashanti Region, only 26 have fire stations.

Additionally, he revealed that as of yesterday, there were only 18 serviceable fire tenders in the region, while 10 remained unserviceable.

Despite the resource constraints, ACFOII Teteh assured the public that the Fire Service remains committed to its duty, stating, “We may have limited resources, but that will not stop us from working hard to protect lives and property.”
