In a fiery speech at a mini rally in Sekondi, Western Region, John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of conspiring with the Electoral Commission (EC) to rig the 2024 general elections.

Mahama claimed that 65 NPP members had been recruited by the EC as temporary staff for the elections in the Gomoa East constituency, in what he described as a coordinated effort to manipulate the voting process in favor of the NPP.

According to Mahama, the individuals were recommended to the EC by an NPP Member of Parliament and local party executives, all of whom are card-bearing members of the NPP.

He called on the public to stay vigilant, warning that despite the people’s votes, the election could still be tampered with by those in power.

“This confirms our suspicions of collusion between the EC and the NPP,” Mahama said, citing a video from Gomoa East that allegedly shows the NPP’s involvement.

He emphasized that if such individuals are stationed at polling stations, it would be impossible for the elections to be fair.
