In a deeply emotional gathering, Maame Dwomoh Boaten, one of the young victims of a tragic car accident in East Legon on October 12, 2024, was laid to rest in a private burial ceremony.
The tragic incident, which also claimed the life of her friend Justine Agbenu, has left the community enveloped in sorrow, as families and friends grapple with the profound loss.
On October 18, a poignant candlelight vigil was held at the accident site, where loved ones and community members gathered in an all-white ceremony to honor Maame and Justine. Together, they shared heartfelt tributes and moments of silence, lighting candles and laying flowers in remembrance of the girls.
Both victims were students at Cornerstone International Academy and lost their lives when 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, lost control of his Jaguar SUV, colliding with an Acura driven by Joseph Ackah. The crash led to both vehicles igniting, tragically resulting in the occupants of the Acura being burned beyond recognition.
Following the incident, Elrad’s parents were taken into custody on October 15, 2024, but were subsequently released on bail.
The choice for a private burial allowed Maame’s family and friends to mourn in a more intimate setting, free from public scrutiny.
In the aftermath of this heartbreaking event, an outpouring of condolences has flooded social media, showcasing the significant impact Maame had on those around her.
