The local Muslim community at Anweaso in the Eastern Region is urgently calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for justice regarding the mysterious disappearance of 25-year-old Laliatu Danjuma.

Laliatu vanished after an altercation with Kwadwo Ahenfie, a neighbor with whom she had a dispute over farmland.

According to Alidu Issah, Laliatu’s uncle, she returned home on October 7, 2024, with severe injuries, claiming Ahenfie had attacked her for allegedly trespassing.

During the confrontation, she managed to escape, losing her wrist beads in the struggle. After informing her uncle about the incident, Laliatu returned to the bush to retrieve her belongings but never came back.

The Akwatia police apprehended Ahenfie the following day but released him after he admitted to the fight, citing Laliatu’s alleged refusal to heed his warnings about trespassing.

The community was outraged when Ahenfie’s family celebrated his release, donning white powder and throwing a party, claiming his innocence.

Laliatu’s family and the wider Anweaso Muslim community have expressed their frustration with the police and are urging the IGP to conduct a thorough investigation.

They fear that if justice is not served, the local youth may resort to vigilante actions against Ahenfie.

Adiza Danjuma, Laliatu’s mother, has appealed to local authorities, including the Denkyembour District Chief Executive, for support in seeking justice for her daughter.

Meanwhile, angry youths from the community have voiced their determination to take action if swift justice is not delivered.
