The construction of advanced school facilities and various educational initiatives across the country is aimed at fostering an environment conducive to training graduates equipped for the challenges of the 21st century.

Significant investments in infrastructure, such as classroom blocks, dormitories, science and ICT laboratories, and STEM institutions, are transforming the educational landscape and shaping the nation’s future.

Speaking at the 54th Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Jachie Pramso Senior High School in the Ashanti region, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister for Education, highlighted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s substantial investment in education is designed to drive national transformation.

The theme of the event was “The Relevance of the Current Educational System to National Development: Its Priorities and Renewed Aspirations for the Ghanaian Child.” Dr. Adutwum urged Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to ensure the continuation of innovative projects and development initiatives in the country.

Evidence-Based Communication

Dr. Adutwum, also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, took the opportunity to present various innovations and policies introduced in the educational sector, utilizing videos and images as part of what he termed “Evidence-Based Communication.”

He praised President Akufo-Addo for his commitment to significantly increasing the education budget and assured the school community of his dedication to providing the necessary resources for effective teaching and learning.

Commendation for Commitment

Mr. George Ernest Asare, President of the Old Students Association of JAPASS, commended the alumni for their prompt and generous contributions to the event despite the short notice.

He emphasized the importance of continued support for the school to achieve excellence, announcing plans for a Smart Block to serve as a digital library for students.

Growth and Academic Aspirations

Headmaster Mr. Benjamin Kye Ampadu shared that the school, established on October 15, 1970, has grown from 134 students to a vibrant community of 4,246, supported by 185 teaching and 105 non-teaching staff.

He expressed the goal of ensuring that at least 95% of students gain admission to tertiary institutions worldwide, a significant increase from the current 71% average.

Strategic Initiatives for Excellence

Mr. Ampadu outlined various initiatives implemented to enhance academic performance, including Vacation Assessment Tests (VAT), Literacy and Numeracy programs, and the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) initiative to improve language skills.

The Chief of Jachie, Baffour Kwaku Amoateng IV, acknowledged the contributions of various stakeholders who have supported the school over the years, encouraging students to stay focused on their goals for the future.
