Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and Nana Oteatuoso Exchange Curses Over $3K Visa Scandal on Live TV
Visa bribery claims spark an intense verbal war, with curses and accusations flying across the screen
- Nana Oteatuoso accuses Hon. Ampratwum of demanding $3,000 for an endorsement letter
- Both sides threatened to invoke traditional Antoa Nyamaa curse amid the heated exchange
- The dispute escalates into a broader political attack, with Oteatuoso blaming the NPP for its electoral loss
A heated exchange unfolded on Lawson TV/Radio Ghana Se Sen morning show between the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum, and Etwienana Baffour Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, a prominent sympathizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The altercation centered on allegations of a $3,000 visa processing fee.
Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II accused the Deputy Minister of demanding $3,000 for an endorsement letter to facilitate his travel abroad, followed by additional charges for a visa fee. He claimed that after paying the initial amount, he ceased the process upon being asked for more.
“I went through hell dealing with Kwaku Ampratwum. If someone like him is part of the NPP, the party is doomed,” Nana Oteatuoso said, adding that the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections was justified.
Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum denied the allegations, stating that he had never met Nana Oteatuoso or received money from him for any travel-related documentation.
“I have worked at the Ministry for four years, and no one can claim I’ve taken money for such purposes. $3,000 means nothing to me,” he said.
The Deputy Minister explained that he had referred Nana Oteatuoso to a contact named Michael for assistance and had even refunded the money paid. He expressed shock over the revived accusations, vowing to curse Nana Oteatuoso with Antoa Nyamaa for tarnishing his reputation.
“If I could curse him right now, I would. The trouble he has caused me warrants invoking Antoa Nyamaa,” Kwaku Ampratwum declared.
In response, Nana Oteatuoso stood by his claims and retorted that he would also invoke curses on the Deputy Minister, expressing regret for ever supporting Vice President Bawumia.
The dramatic confrontation has sparked intense public debate, with calls for further investigation into the matter.
