The chaos reportedly began when supporters of Chris Arthur, an NPP parliamentary aspirant, were returning from a campaign launch in Otinkorang.

As they passed by Morrison’s supporters, who were holding a mini-rally in Agona Nyankrom, gunshots erupted, injuring Haruna Rashid, Arthur’s campaign manager, who suffered a gunshot wound to his ribs.

He was quickly taken to Agona Swedru Government Hospital for treatment, along with others who sustained minor injuries.

Morrison stated she was unaware of the gunfire during the rally, saying, “I didn’t hear the shots and only learned of the incident later.” She emphasized that her rally was well-organized, with police providing significant security support.

“How could it be from my camp? I followed all the police directives,” she asserted, stressing the absence of any wrongdoing by her supporters.

The Central Regional Police Command has initiated an investigation into the incident, with Morrison expressing her hope for a swift resolution to prevent further escalation.

Amid rising tensions, community leaders are urging all parties to maintain peace as the election approaches.
