The High Court in Koforidua, led by Justice Addae, has ruled in favor of Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, dismissing a petition that sought to challenge his election.
The ruling followed the approval of an application filed by NPP’s Legal Affairs Director, Gary Nimako Marfo.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had vowed to pursue all legal channels to contest the legitimacy of Annoh-Dompreh’s parliamentary seat, arguing that the declaration was based on incorrect results and did not comply with electoral laws.
In February, the court had issued an order requiring Annoh-Dompreh, the Electoral Commission, and the Clerk of Parliament to appear in court, following a petition from the NDC. The case, brought by NDC candidate Fummey Selorm Philibert and his legal team, challenged the legitimacy of the MP’s victory.
However, on Thursday, April 10, the court dismissed the petition, upholding Annoh-Dompreh’s election and imposing a GH₵25,000 cost on the petitioners. This ruling concludes the legal dispute, affirming Annoh-Dompreh’s status as the rightful representative of the constituency.
