The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has expressed strong confidence in Hon. Haruna Iddrisu’s ability to resolve the ongoing education sector challenges, following his appointment as Minister-Designate for Education by President John Mahama.
CETAG Vice President Daniel Mensah Ofori praised Iddrisu’s extensive knowledge, legal background, and prior experience as a Minister, emphasizing his potential to address key issues such as teacher welfare and curriculum reforms.
He also hopes Iddrisu will bring an end to the strikes that have plagued the sector, calling for CETAG to receive the respect it deserves.
In an interview on Lawson TV/Radio Ghana “Se Sen Morning Show” with Kwame Tanko, Mr. Mensah Ofori stated that Iddrisu’s commitment to the rule of law and his reputation for fairness have earned him the trust of the education community, with unions like NAGRAT and TEWU already congratulating him.
CETAG, which is currently on an indefinite strike over unresolved grievances and government non-compliance with arbitration awards, is hopeful that under Iddrisu’s leadership, the issues will be addressed.
