Carsley Names England Squad for Final Nations League Fixtures Before Tuchel’s Era Begins

Lee Carsley names his squad for two vital UEFA Nations League fixtures, with fresh faces and injury concerns shaping the team ahead of Thomas Tuchel’s January arrival.

Story Highlights
  • The interim boss leads England against Greece and Republic of Ireland in crucial UEFA Nations League
  • Curtis Jones earns a call-up after impressing with Liverpool
  • Key players Harry Maguire, John Stones, and Kobbie Mainoo miss out due to injury

The England squad for Lee Carsley’s last stint as interim manager has been revealed, with three uncapped players making the cut.

Carsley will oversee two crucial UEFA Nations League fixtures, starting with a trip to Athens to face Greece on November 14, followed by a home clash with the Republic of Ireland at Wembley on November 17.

Currently sitting second in League B Group 2, England trail Greece by three points, and Carsley will be aiming to finish the campaign on a high note before Thomas Tuchel officially takes over on January 1.

Although Carsley is set to return to his role with the England Under-21s, he has not shied away from making bold choices, though injuries to key players Harry Maguire, John Stones, and Kobbie Mainoo have forced some changes in his squad.

One of the standout inclusions is Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, who has been in outstanding form under new manager Arne Slot. Jones has featured 12 times for the Premier League leaders this season, scoring once and assisting four goals.
