Builsa South: DCE and Assembly Staff Lock Horns Amid Election Tensions
Alleged assault incident adds fuel to the political rivalry between NPP and NDC
- Assembly staff claims DCE assaulted him
- Daniel Kwame Gariba refutes the accusations
- Gariba accuses the staff member of stealing items meant for artisanal beneficiaries
A staff member of the Builsa South District Assembly, Saaed Mohammed, has been hospitalized following an alleged assault incident.
Mohammed accuses the District Chief Executive (DCE) and NPP parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Daniel Kwame Gariba, of perpetrating the attack.
According to medical reports, Mohammed suffered a severe headache, nosebleed, neck pain, and lip lacerations, prompting his admission to a health facility. The police issued him a medical form to confirm the extent of his injuries.
DCE Gariba has vehemently denied the allegations, describing them as politically motivated attempts by National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists to tarnish his reputation ahead of elections.
“I wish to state that the story is false, untrue, and a figment of someone’s imagination. Those who know me can attest that I am not associated with violence,” Gariba asserted.
The DCE further claimed the incident stemmed from the alleged misconduct of Mohammed, whom he accused of withholding items meant for artisanal skills beneficiaries.
Gariba stated he discovered 15 hair dryers locked in Mohammed’s office during an inspection and directed they be moved to the assembly’s stores.
He alleged that Mohammed verbally abused him during the confrontation and is now fabricating the assault story to garner public sympathy. Gariba maintains his innocence, urging the public to disregard the claims.
“I am focused on my campaign to secure victory for Dr. Bawumia and win the parliamentary seat for the NPP in Builsa South,” he added.
The matter remains under investigation, with conflicting narratives fueling political and public debate.
