Bring Back the Love! KNUST Lecturer Urges Ghanaians to Forgive and Support the NPP Again
Dr. Bimpeh Asiedu describes the 2024 elections as a wake-up call for the NPP, urging Ghanaians to forgive and reignite their trust in the party.
- Dr. Bimpeh Asiedu calls the 2024 elections a "punishment" for the NPP's shortcomings
- Appeals to Ghanaians and Asanteman to move past dissatisfaction and restore their support for the NPP
- Asserts that Vice President Bawumia is more credible than former President Mahama
A lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Bimpeh Asiedu, has described the 2024 general elections as a “punishment election” for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an emotional appeal, Dr. Asiedu acknowledged that the results reflect the dissatisfaction of Ghanaians and the people of Asanteman with the party’s governance under President Akufo-Addo.
However, he urged the electorate to move past the punishment and reignite their love for the NPP.
“This election shows Ghanaians were not happy with many things we did under President Akufo-Addo. I am pleading with Asanteman and Ghana that the level of punishment is enough. Please bring back the love you have for the NPP,” Dr. Asiedu said during an interview on Lawson TV/Radio’s Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko.
He emphasized that, despite challenges, no political party has contributed to Ghana’s development as significantly as the NPP.
He admitted that the party has sometimes overpromised, leading to frustrations when all pledges are not fulfilled.
Dr. Asiedu contrasted the NPP’s governance with the opposition NDC, asserting that while the NDC often fails to fulfill promises, the NPP delivers on most of its commitments.
He also declared Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as “more credible” than former President John Dramani Mahama, stating that credibility should have been a decisive factor in the election outcome.
