Etwienana Baffour Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, a sympathizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has shared an emotional account of how he was barred from hosting the ‘Di Bawumia Ho Adanse3’ show and subsequently dismissed from Wontumi TV/Radio.
According to Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, during one of the programs, he shared a flyer promoting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and expressed his view that if the NPP chose Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2024 elections, they would naturally secure the support of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO.
He said following this statement, he faced backlash, which led to his dismissal by the station’s General Manager, Kofi Agyei, popularly known as Away Bus, and criticism from Andy Owusu, Chairman Wontumi’s personal aide.
In an interview with Kwame Tanko on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II revealed that he had worked for Dr. Bawumia for four years without receiving any payment.
Reflecting on the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections, he expressed that it was a necessary outcome to expose the challenges within the party.
“Whatever happened was for the best,” he stated. “If God hadn’t brought about this change, some of us would still be suffering. There are appointees who are wicked, and everyone deserves recognition. Looking back at my struggles, I often ask myself, ‘Was I really the one who worked for Bawumia?,” the Akyem Royal said.
