- Fulham looked set to secure victory when Alex Iwobi opened the scoring in the 60th minute
- Everton struggled for much of the match but nearly took the lead
Substitute Beto scored a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time, rescuing a draw for Everton against Fulham and extending their unbeaten streak in the Premier League to five matches.
Sean Dyche’s team appeared headed for defeat after a lackluster performance, but the Portuguese striker found the net from Ashley Young’s cutback in the 94th minute, ensuring the Toffees avoided a loss.
“It means a lot for me,” Beto told BBC Match of the Day. “I hadn’t played much in the past few weeks, so I needed to put in the hard work. As everyone says, hard work pays off.”
“This time, it paid off for me and my teammates. It’s really important for the Toffees.”
He added, “I just need to keep working. If I get the chance, I want to score. If not, I’ll keep putting in the effort—that’s my mentality. We showed tonight that we don’t give up, and we need to maintain that mindset.”
Fulham looked set to secure victory when Alex Iwobi opened the scoring in the 60th minute, finishing off a well-crafted move involving Emile Smith Rowe. However, the Cottagers couldn’t hold onto their lead.
Marco Silva’s side started strong, coming close to scoring multiple times—Jordan Pickford denied Adama Traore’s angled shot, while Smith Rowe missed a close-range opportunity.
Everton struggled for much of the match but nearly took the lead when Idrissa Gueye, in his 200th Premier League appearance, hit the crossbar with a powerful shot, only for Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s follow-up to be ruled offside.
Despite being disjointed for large stretches, the Blues persevered, and Beto chose the perfect moment to celebrate his first league goal of the season.
