During the commissioning of the new Lands Commission Head Office in Accra on November 25, Dr. Bawumia discussed the challenges the new facility aims to address, such as the overreliance on manual records, the cumbersome movement of files between offices, and congestion.
He reaffirmed his commitment to establishing a robust land administration system, focusing on three main areas: modern infrastructure, digitalization, and the automation of business processes.
“This new building reflects the government’s dedication to improving land management and creating a more efficient, transparent, and customer-focused land administration system in Ghana,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia noted that the Lands Commission’s heavy dependence on manual records often requires staff to physically transfer files across different offices, which can lead to delays and inefficiencies. “I have consistently said that we cannot progress without addressing these issues. The completion of the new head office is a significant step toward that goal,” he added.
He highlighted that the government has been working for the past eight years to build a robust land administration framework anchored on modern office infrastructure, digitalization, and process automation.
“The opening of this state-of-the-art facility marks a major advancement in our collective effort to create a more effective, transparent, and customer-oriented land administration system in Ghana,” Dr. Bawumia concluded.
