The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has taken decisive action, compelling the Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, to resign from his position with immediate effect.

This move follows serious allegations of misconduct linked to a GH¢2 million transaction, which have severely tarnished the bank’s reputation.

In a letter dated October 10, the BoG informed Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, who is also the Kwahumanhene, that his “continued holding of office as a Director of the ADB has become untenable due to the irreparable damage these events have caused to the image of the bank.”

Citing Section 103 (2)(d) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (ACT 930), the BoG mandated the Board Chairman’s immediate resignation and handover of responsibilities.

The allegations against Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II first surfaced after a whistleblower, Collins Darkwah Aboagye, filed a formal petition with the Office of the President.

The petition detailed accusations of misconduct related to the GH¢2 million transaction, including potential conflicts of interest, financial mismanagement, and breaches of fiduciary duties.
