Former President John Agyekum Kufour has strongly advised Ghanaians, particularly in the Ashanti Region, to rethink their decision to sit out the upcoming December elections.

Kufour warned that anyone who refuses to vote is effectively enslaving themselves, as it allows others to choose a leader who may set the country back.

In a national address on Sunday, November 17, Kufour expressed his concern over voter apathy, stating that when people choose not to vote, someone else will step in to make decisions on their behalf.

He stressed that these choices could lead to leaders who don’t prioritize the nation’s progress.

Kufour recalled the 2008 election when many Ghanaians stayed away from voting, leading to a loss for President Akufo-Addo.

He noted his disappointment that Akufo-Addo’s opportunity to continue his vision for the country was lost due to low voter turnout.

He also lamented that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) neglected key projects, such as the Asokore Mampong Affordable Housing, road developments, and hospital initiatives, which he had initiated when they won the 2008 election.

“The projects are for all of us, but they won’t continue. What kind of rivalry is that?,” he said
