The tragic death of Asante Kotoko’s devoted supporter, Nana Pooley, whose real name was Francis Yaw Frimpong, has left the football community in shock following the release of a harrowing autopsy report.

Conducted on February 7 at the Sunyani Regional Hospital, the report unveiled distressing details about the brutal nature of his demise.

Pooley’s death occurred after violence erupted at the Nana Koramansah II Park in Nsoatre, following Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League clash against Nsoatreman FC on February 2.

The autopsy revealed that the fatal stabbing involved a 7.5cm-long weapon, inflicting a 1.6cm-deep cut to his heart. This led to a catastrophic loss of blood, with 1.5 litres clotted internally, causing his untimely death.

In the wake of the tragedy, the Ghana Police Service has arrested six suspects, including Hon. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the former Sunyani West MP and owner of Nsoatreman FC, and Elizabeth Ntiriwaa, popularly known as Akosua Black Chinese, who has been accused of inciting the violence.

Fans across the country have taken to social media, expressing their grief and demanding justice for the late Pooley.

The football fraternity remains united in mourning and calls for accountability, hoping this heartbreaking incident sparks significant changes to ensure the safety of fans in Ghanaian football.
