On November 10, 2024, Alan Kyerematen, the presidential candidate for the Movement for Change, kicked off a two-day campaign tour in the Ahafo Region, receiving a warm and enthusiastic welcome.

Starting in Asunafo South, Kyerematen reiterated his commitment to involving traditional leaders in his government if elected president.

Addressing traditional leaders and residents in Sankore, he announced plans to amend the 1992 Constitution to enhance the role of chiefs, whom he believes have been sidelined in national governance.

“The current Constitution keeps our revered chiefs on the sidelines when they should be partners in governance. When I take office, we will change that,” he declared, prompting cheers from the crowd. He further outlined his Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which includes establishing a Second Chamber where chiefs would serve as co-trustees of Ghana’s lands and resources, leveraging their knowledge and influence in national leadership.

Nana Tabiri Gyansa, the Kotirehene of the Sankore Traditional Council, welcomed Kyerematen’s commitment, expressing hope that it would address the community’s developmental challenges. “Sankore and its surrounding areas have been neglected for far too long in terms of development and employment opportunities,” he stated. He added that the people are eager to see the new direction and transformation that Kyerematen and his Movement for Change promise.

This tour follows a successful Caravan Campaign in the Northern Region, where Kyerematen’s message of national unity and transformation resonated widely. Energized by the “Ase3 Ho” slogan, the caravan has generated excitement in every community it has visited. In Ahafo, Kyerematen’s message was met with similar enthusiasm. “I have traveled to many places and seen how people embrace our Movement, but the reception here today is incredible,” he said, visibly moved by the support from the people of Sankore.

Accompanied by senior members of the Afrafranto Alliance, including Hon. Yaw Buaben-Asamoa, Kyerematen’s campaign team is generating strong momentum across the Ahafo Region. Buaben-Asamoa emphasized the significance of Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan in addressing critical issues such as youth unemployment, illegal mining, and the need for constitutional reforms.

Kyerematen underscored the necessity of a government of national unity to effect real change in Ghana. “We need a government that unites, not divides. The Afrafranto Movement aims to bring everyone to the table, including our chiefs,” he said, promoting his vision of inclusive governance that incorporates the authority and wisdom of traditional leaders.

As the caravan continued through Ahafo, local communities were abuzz with excitement. Supporters cheered as Kyerematen detailed plans for job creation, particularly for youth, and emphasized the importance of supporting economic growth in rural areas through improved infrastructure and local investment.

His focus on creating opportunities for all Ghanaians resonated deeply, echoing the Afrafranto Alliance’s slogan, “Obiaa bedidi wo ase3 ho,” which envisions a future where all Ghanaians benefit.

The caravan tour will continue in the Ahafo Region, with Kyerematen expected to engage with more communities to strengthen the Afrafranto Alliance’s presence. The overwhelmingly positive response from Ahafo has invigorated the campaign team, reinforcing their belief in the public’s desire for meaningful change under Alan Kyerematen’s leadership.
