President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, Monday, December 30, 2024, chair the National Honours and Awards ceremony, marking one of his final official duties before stepping down from office.

The event will celebrate individuals who have made exceptional contributions and shown selfless service to the nation.

A letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, has instructed all nominees to be seated by 11:00 AM at the Accra International Conference Centre, the venue for the investiture ceremony.

The dress code for the occasion is formal or traditional attire, with suggestions including Kente, Fugu, or suits, in celebration of Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and the solemn nature of the event.

Nominees have also been granted the privilege of inviting up to two family members to join them at this prestigious occasion. Personalized invitation cards signed by President Akufo-Addo have been sent to each recipient.

The National Honours and Awards Ceremony is an opportunity to honor individuals whose remarkable achievements and dedication have made a lasting impact on the country’s progress. It underscores the importance of national service, excellence, and the pursuit of greatness.

The five categories of awards to be presented include:

  • Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana
  • Order of the Star of Ghana
  • Order of the Volta
  • The Medal for Gallantry
  • The Grand Medal
