Akufo-Addo Officially Launches National Service Authority to Enhance Youth Development and National Mobilization
- Nana Addo has formally launched the National Service Authority
- He stressed that this transformation will empower the youth
- President Akufo-Addo commended the NSA for its significant contributions
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has formally launched the National Service Authority (NSA), a strategic move to enhance its ability to implement policies and programs effectively.
This initiative aligns with the passage of the National Service Authority Bill 2024 in July, which aims to mobilize service personnel for national priorities.
With its new legal status, the NSA will now have the authority to enter into contractual agreements, addressing previous challenges the institution faced before its official launch.
At the event on Friday, October 18, President Akufo-Addo commended the NSA for its significant contributions to national development, noting that it saves the country 3 billion Ghana cedis each year.
He stressed that this transformation will empower the youth by providing them with essential skills for the nation’s progress. “It also reduces the country’s wage costs by around GHC3 billion annually. Transforming the Scheme into the National Service Authority allows it to undertake a more expansive role in nation-building,” he remarked.
“This will ensure that the Authority not only mobilizes and deploys service personnel but also equips them with valuable skills, preparing them for greater success after their service.”
The President expressed confidence that the upcoming administration, led by Vice President Insha and NPP Presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will build on this foundation, ensuring the authority continues to play a vital role in the development of Ghana’s youth.
