  • Akufo-Addo and his family are accused of mistreating loyal party members
  • Accountability and unity are essential for the NPP to rebuild and regain its position

Subin Member of Parliament, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his family of being major contributors to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent defeat in the elections.

In an interview Boakye Antwi pointed to arrogance and internal divisions within the party as key factors in its poor performance.

He criticized how certain Members of Parliament and party leaders conducted themselves, saying their arrogance alienated supporters and created a disconnect with grassroots constituents.

“The NPP’s defeat cannot be discussed without mentioning Akufo-Addo,” Boakye Antwi remarked, asserting that the President and some of his family members mistreated loyal party members, further deepening divisions and weakening the party’s support base.

Asserting that Akufo-Addo has led the party for over 17 years, longer than any leader since Busia, the MP questioned how the President could avoid accountability for the party’s decline.

He also criticized the role of some of the President’s family members, alleging their treatment of party faithful weakened NPP unity. Boakye Antwi called for these internal issues to be addressed if the party hopes to recover and rebuild its strength.
