Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, the Ghana Freedom Party’s running mate for 2024, has revealed details surrounding the untimely death of the party’s presidential candidate, Akua Donkor.

In an interview on October 29, 2024, Roman Fada, as he is widely known, recounted that Akua began feeling unwell on Friday, October 25.

Initially, she was treated at Nsawam Hospital but her condition deteriorated, necessitating a transfer to Ridge Hospital.

“It all began on Friday around 1:30 PM, just before my radio show at 2 PM. We spoke on the phone Saturday for over an hour, but later that evening, her driver informed me that her health was declining, and she was being taken to Nsawam Government Hospital,” he shared.

He continued, “I got a call at 1 AM on Monday saying her condition had worsened, and she was rushed to Ridge Hospital. I kept in touch with them until they arrived. I visited her in the morning before going to work, but later that night, I received the heartbreaking news of her passing. I rushed back to the hospital to be with her family.”

In earlier reports, senior journalist Ernest Frimpong Manso (Adakabre) revealed that Akua was diagnosed with respiratory issues at Nsawam Hospital.

Her death sparked an outpouring of condolences on social media, as many shared their sympathies with her family and supporters. Akua Donkor was third on the ballot for the upcoming elections and was actively preparing for the campaign just weeks away. Tributes are flooding in from netizens honoring her legacy and contributions.
