Story Highlights
  • The Falcons of Jediane secured a 2-0 win over Ghana
  • Black Stars’ fate now depends on Sudan’s performance in upcoming matches
  • Kwesi Appiah emphasized Ghana’s talent

In a post-match interview, Sudan’s coach James Kwesi Appiah expressed his disappointment over Ghana’s impending elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following their defeat.

He acknowledged the talent within the Ghanaian squad, lamenting that their strong performance wasn’t enough to secure qualification.

“It’s unfortunate that one of us—either Ghana or us—has to go out. Sadly for Ghana, with our win today, they will face elimination,” Appiah stated.

He also praised the Sudanese supporters in Libya, where Sudan has temporarily set up home grounds, noting the enthusiastic backing they receive there.

The Falcons of Jediane clinched victory with two goals, taking advantage of defensive errors from the Black Stars.

Alidu Seidu’s mistake led to a goal from Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud in the 62nd minute, followed by another from Mohamed Abdelrahman just three minutes later, capitalizing on a blunder by Mohammed Salisu.

With this win, Sudan sits second in Group F with seven points from four matches. Although Ghana still has a mathematical chance of qualifying, their fate now depends on Sudan’s performance in the remaining games.
