Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, the NDC MP for Dormaa West, has lauded Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin for his wise decision to adjourn proceedings indefinitely.
This announcement was made on Tuesday, October 22, following a chaotic day filled with fierce debates between MPs from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the majority status in Parliament.
During the adjournment, Speaker Bagbin mentioned that he received a directive from the Supreme Court instructing him to suspend his earlier ruling that declared four parliamentary seats vacant.
However, he did not provide further details about the Court’s communication, leaving both MPs and observers uncertain about its implications.
Hon. Oppong Asamoah reiterated his support for the Speaker’s decision on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show on Lawson TV/Radio with Kwame Tanko.
He noted that with the Supreme Court’s ruling for a stay of execution, Parliament could be recalled if necessary.
He emphasized that if the NPP presents a compelling reason, Parliament would reconvene.
