The President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, is scheduled to visit Ghana from November 23 to 25, following an invitation from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as announced by the State House on Tuesday.
Ramkalawan’s trip coincides with the 100th anniversary of King Prempeh I’s return to Ghana after being exiled to Seychelles nearly 120 years ago.
The Ashanti king was exiled in the early 1900s and spent 24 years in Seychelles before returning to his homeland.
This historic connection is further emphasized by the presence of his descendants in Seychelles today, reinforcing the deep ties between the two nations.
This visit celebrates the enduring relationship between Seychelles and Ghana, formalized in 1988 when diplomatic relations were officially established.
