The Ghana Black Galaxies were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Nigeria in the first leg of their 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite dominating possession, the Galaxies struggled to break down the resilient Nigerian defense. Mustapha Yabuku came closest to scoring for Ghana, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena.
Nigeria also had a chance to take the lead when Papa Daniel Mustapha’s long-range effort hit the post.
Coach Didi Dramani introduced Derrick Fordjour and Jerry Afriyie in an attempt to spark a late comeback, but the visitors held on for a valuable draw.
The second leg will take place on December 28th at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Nigeria.
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the 2025 CHAN tournament, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
