The Transition Team for President-elect John Dramani Mahama has warned public officials against yielding to pressure from outgoing political figures to make last-minute appointments, transfers, promotions, or financial transactions.
This caution follows a decision made during the second meeting of the Joint Transition Team on December 13, 2024, which mandated that such actions must be approved by the team.
Despite this, the Mahama Transition Team has accused the outgoing NPP government of continuing these activities in breach of the established protocols.
In a statement released on December 17, 2024, the Transition Team made it clear that any unauthorized appointments, promotions, or financial transactions, including those that have been backdated, will be reversed once the power is formally transferred.
The team also emphasized that public officials involved in such activities would be held accountable.
The statement reaffirmed the commitment to a transparent and smooth transition process and urged all involved parties to strictly follow the established guidelines.
“For clarity, all public officials are urged to resist pressure from outgoing political figures, as engaging in these actions could have serious consequences when the new administration takes office,” said Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team.
