Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shared his future plans, confirming that his tenure at the club will be his last managerial role in club football.
Guardiola recently signed a contract extension with City in November, keeping him at the club until 2027.
This agreement will see him spend over a decade at the helm of the Cityzens, during which time he has already won six Premier League titles, one Champions League, four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Looking to the future, Guardiola revealed that Manchester City will be the final club he manages. Speaking to Spanish chef Dani Garcia on his Desmontadito YouTube channel, Guardiola said, “I’m not gonna manage any other club after City. I’m not talking about the long-term future, but what I’m not going to do is leave and go to another country to do the same thing. Maybe a national team, but that’s different.”
Guardiola had been linked with the England job following Gareth Southgate’s departure, before Thomas Tuchel was appointed as the new Three Lions coach.
There has also been speculation about the possibility of Guardiola taking charge of the Brazil national team, and there may be numerous opportunities for him once he eventually departs Manchester City.
Currently, Guardiola’s City side is going through a rough patch, having dropped points in their most recent Premier League match against Crystal Palace. The manager will look to steer his team back to winning ways on Wednesday when they face Juventus in the Champions League.
