President-elect John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound gratitude to God for his re-election, crediting divine guidance for his campaign’s success and the renewed mandate to lead Ghana.

Speaking after the Electoral Commission officially declared him the winner on December 9, Mahama quoted scripture, saying, “I thank God for preparing a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” He reflected on the campaign’s challenges and the overwhelming support that culminated in one of Ghana’s most decisive electoral victories.

Mahama triumphed with 6,328,397 votes (56.55%), defeating his main opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP, who secured 4,657,304 votes (41.61%). His party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), also claimed a parliamentary majority, flipping key constituencies long held by the ruling party.

The 2024 general election, held on December 7, reinforced Mahama’s leadership and set the stage for the NDC to shape Ghana’s future.
