President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to uphold peace and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a smooth and violence-free 2024 general election.

In a national address on Friday, December 6, the president emphasized the critical role of security agencies, particularly the police, in maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process. He urged citizens to support their efforts to guarantee an environment free from intimidation.

“Let us all cooperate with the security agencies to ensure that the election is conducted in an atmosphere devoid of intimidation and violence,” Akufo-Addo appealed.

He further encouraged voters to exercise their democratic rights with dignity and tolerance, reinforcing Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of peaceful elections and a mature democracy.

“Go out and vote for your preferred candidate in peace and dignity. This is a duty we owe to ourselves and to Ghana,” he added, calling for collective responsibility in securing a prosperous future for the nation.
