In a significant operation, Ghana Immigration Service officials in the Akatsi North District intercepted three booklets of dummy ballot papers, each containing 1,000 sheets, allegedly being smuggled to Togo through an unauthorized route at Hevi.

The suspect, Abraham Ahiabu, identified as the NDC Constituency Secretary for Akatsi North, claimed during interrogation that the materials were intended for voter education in Vodome, Togo. He also disclosed possession of an additional 20,000 dummy ballot papers.

The seized items, along with the suspect, have been handed over to the Akatsi North Police for further investigation. The district’s Electoral Commission has also been tasked with verifying the authenticity of the intercepted papers.

The Ghana Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to tackling cross-border illegalities and assured the public of transparency as investigations unfold.
