- Akufo-Addo questions Mahama’s credibility
- Mahama cites Proverbs 19:9
Former President John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sharply rebutted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent criticism of his tenure.
Mahama dismissed the President’s assertion that his leadership was defined by persistent power outages, known as “dumsor,” labeling the claim as false and unbecoming of a leader.
Addressing the issue during his Western Region tour, Mahama insisted that the “dumsor” crisis had been resolved before his administration left office in 2017. He described Akufo-Addo’s remarks as a distortion of facts and cited Proverbs 19:9, emphasizing that false witnesses and liars will face divine judgment.
Akufo-Addo had previously described Mahama as a “failed president” whose legacy included unresolved power challenges, questioning how he could propose a “24-hour economy” when his government struggled with stable electricity.
Mahama countered, stating, “In 2016, ‘dumsor’ had been solved. Nobody’s lights went off, nobody experienced load-shedding. It’s on record. Liars cannot go to heaven.”
